Trivia Night FAQ's
1. What is Trivia Night?
Trivia Night is modeled after a quiz show, only this time you get to use teams. Each table of 6-8 will be a team. Teams will listen to the announcer read 10 questions which constitutes a round. At the end of each round the answers will be turned in to judges to be scored. A running total will be kept so teams always know where they stand. Between rounds there will be fun audience participation games and prizes. Ten rounds will be played before the evening is over. The winning team will get individual prizes worthy of their efforts. The losing team will win a bouquet of black balloons. Everyone will receive a BEF Trivia Night silly band to remind them of the evening. Good times will be shared by all as the participants move from question rounds to activities back to question rounds. It is a “don’t miss” evening!
2. Who can come?
Although everyone is welcome, younger children probably won’t be able to participate as much as middle school and high school aged students. Parents, grandparents, and other adult community members are all welcome to attend.
3. Is this a family event?
Trivia Night is not specifically planned to be a family event. Although everyone is welcome, younger children probably won’t be able to participate as much as middle school and high school aged students. If your family isn’t super competitive and wants to spend some time together, call it family night! If you have younger children that get frustrated when they can’t answer all the questions, it might be best to leave them at home. Families with older children or families of adults will find this an entertaining challenge.
4. Can we use computers/books/smart phones to help find answers?
NO! NO! NO! We will have monitors making sure that your team is using your superior intellectual capacity to answer the questions. Nothing outside the team member’s brains will be allowed in answering questions.
5. What kind of food will be available?
Every table will be equipped with a free refillable basket of popcorn. A teriyaki chicken meal with chicken, noodles, salad, fruit, drink and dessert will be available for $4.00. Hot dogs will be available for $1.00 and assorted soft drinks will also be available for $1.00. Doors open at 6 pm so participants can come early to eat and get the best seating.
6. Can we bring our own food?
Yes, you can bring drinks and snacks to share with your teammates. Because we are on school district property and there will be minors present, alcoholic beverages are forbidden. As Trivia Night is a fundraiser, food and drink will be available for purchase, but outside food and drink is permitted.
7. How many people on a team or per table?
The Willamette High School Cafeteria can be set up to accommodate tables or 6-8. Because Trivia Night is a new event, we are anticipating groups of 6, but if we sell lots of tickets, we will go with groups of 8.
8. Will we have to play with strangers at our table?
You might! Think of it as a way to make new friends while having a good time. Not everyone that comes to participate in Trivia Night will come with a group of 6 or 8 friends. In that case, we fill in tables as we can. You may or may not know everyone at your table.
9. How do we win?
The simple answer is that the group with the most correct answers wins! Everyone in the group will get an individual prize(s), but teams win using all the mental capacity at the table. At the beginning of the evening, teams will make a guess as to their total points at the end of the evening. In the event of a tie, the team with the closest guess wins.
10. Where does the money go?
The money collected goes directly to the grant fund of the Bethel Education Foundation. Last year BEF awarded over $24,000 in grants to Bethel School District Faculty and Staff. It’s a great cause that BEF feels passionate about—and your favorite school in the Bethel District has benefitted from.
11. How long does the Trivia Night process take?
With 10 rounds of 10 questions and the quick games between the rounds, it will take approximately 3 hours to complete Trivia Night. We hope it goes so fast that you are sad when the time is over! : )
12. Can we get tickets at the door?
Doors open at 6 pm so participants can come early to buy tickets, eat, and get the best seating.
13. Can we leave early?
Yes, leaving early is an option, but it means you won’t be a winner. Sometimes things come up and you have to leave. Trivia Night, and even your own team members, can still function with a missing member.
